Lenten Reminders - Fast and Abstinence (***Updated***)
Fasting & Abstinence: Catholics aged 14 and older abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday (Feb 27th), Good Friday (April 7th), and all the Fridays of Lent. In addition, on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, Catholics from age 18-59 fast, limiting themselves to one full meal and two smaller meals each day.
Prayer: Catholics are encouraged to pray more during Lent, especially with Scripture. Lent is also an ideal time to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in preparation for the celebration of Christ's Passion, Death, and Resurrection.
Almsgiving: Moved by the sacrifice of Christ, many Christians combine almsgiving with fasting, giving to the poor the money they saved by eating, drinking, or buying less as they rely more on God's abundant grace.
Stations of the Cross
- 2 PM at Nativity. Every Friday in Lent except March 17th. All are welcome to join the student body praying the Stations of the Cross.
- 6 PM at Church of the Resurrection. Every Friday in Lent.

What is Beacons of Light?
Beacons of Light is a multiyear process of pastoral planning for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Rooted in prayer, groupings of parishes will come together as one faith community. These new “Families of Parishes” will be stronger together, focused more on mission than on maintenance. In the Families of Parishes, we will grow closer to God, follow Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit and radiate Christ in our lives.

St. John Dad & Men's Club
The St John Dad’s and Men’s Club is a group of men dedicated to the continued support of St John the Evangelist Parish. Our primary contributions are through time and talent. We also run many fundraisers (Fish Fry’s – Las Vegas Night – Corn hole Tournament – 250 Club – golf outing - Festival set-up and tear-down - etc.) Through our time, talent and fundraisers, we have remodeled the gym and Letterest Hall; helped pay for new roofs floors and windows; replacement, repairs and upkeep of the boilers; paid for and replaced sidewalks around school and streets, among many other projects.
One of the most important aspects is the fellowship that we foster for our group and the St. John parish as a whole. We meet every first Monday of the month at 8pm in Letterest Hall. New members are always welcome. Contact either Don Braun 513-984-6574 or John Bunker 513-519-9545 for more information.
