Stations of the Cross at St. John During Lent    *NEW*
Come join us on Thursdays during lent as we gather together for the Stations of the Cross.  The time is 7:00 PM and the dates are March 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th.  This is a very rich tradition where we recall the Passion of Christ and walk through the last hours before His crucifixion.  Reading & praying through the 14 stations together can be a very healing experience as we recall Jesus sufferings and unite our sufferings with His.

St. John 1891 Campaign    *UPDATED*
Thank you for all that you do for St. John Parish.  Parishioners should have received a letter and brochure in the mail asking for support of the 1891 Fund at St. John’s.  St. John’s was founded in 1891 and has served the local community for 130 years.  The Parish started the 1891 Fund to replace lost revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We understand that this Pandemic has affected many, if not all our parish families. Please prayerfully consider a gift.  Please know that we are grateful for any financial support and prayers you can provide in these difficult times as we continue to live our faith in Jesus Christ.

If you haven't received a brochure or would like to donate electronically, you can click on the 1891 Campaign menu option at the top of this page to see the brochure or to donate.  You can also donate cash, make a pledge, or donate by placing an envelope marked "1891 Fund" and put it in the collection basket.

Or Mail:  "St. John 1891 Fund"
4136 Myrtle Avenue
Cincinnati, OH 45236

For gifts of STOCK, or any questions, please contact Chairman Bill Davis by email at 1891Fund@stjohndp.org

Thank you very much.  You and your loved ones are in our prayers.  And May God graciously bless you!

St. John Dad & Men's Club
The St John Dad’s and Men’s Club is a group of men dedicated to the continued support of St John the Evangelist Parish. Our primary contributions are through time and talent.  We also run many fundraisers (Fish Fry’s – Las Vegas Night – Corn hole Tournament – 250 Club – golf outing - Festival set-up and tear-down - etc.)  Through our time, talent and fundraisers, we have remodeled the gym and Letterest Hall; helped pay for new roofs floors and windows; replacement, repairs and upkeep of the boilers; paid for and replaced sidewalks around school and streets, among many other projects.

One of the most important aspects is the fellowship that we foster for our group and the St. John parish as a whole. We meet every first Monday of the month at 8pm in Letterest Hall.   New members are always welcome.  Contact either Don Braun 513-984-6574 or John Bunker 513-519-9545 for more information.

Saint Vincent De Paul
THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  A very big THANK YOU to St. John Parishioners and Friends for your amazing support of our St. Vincent De Paul.  The need is very great, and we could not serve our brothers and sisters without your continued generosity and ongoing support of our food collections and your financial support as well.  God Bless you!!!   If you are looking for a meaningful way to help others, please reach out to John Piening at 513-984-1950 and ask him about volunteer opportunities with SVDP!

Regional Prayer Line
Did you know we have a regional prayer line?  Do you or someone you know need prayers for safe travel, a successful surgery, healing in a relationship, or are at a loss for the next step?  If you have any prayer requests, whatever they are, we have a prayer chain of people who will pray for your intentions.

To have our prayer chain pray for your intentions, please call the regional office at 791-9004 or email Jenny at Jennye@blr.church.   Your prayer intentions are communicated via phone and email to our prayer warriors.  If you’d like to be a part of this mission to receive the daily prayer requests and lift these intentions up in your prayers, just call or email and let us know!

2020 Charitable Contributions
The parish office has recently mailed the 2020 charitable contribution statements to all parishioners.  For the 2020 tax year only, there was a change in the Federal tax law (IRS) that allows 2020 charitable contributions to be deducted on your taxes whether you file an itemized form or you take the standard deduction.  If you have not yet received your statement for the 2020 tax year, please contact the regional office (513-791-9004).  Any tax reporting changes for the 2021 tax year are unknown at this time.

Recent Bulletin Insert Regarding Morality of Vaccines
The Catholic Bishops in Ohio issued a letter to parishioners addressing questions and concerns being raised regarding the use of covid-19 vaccines. Of particular concern to many Catholics are various issues related to application of the Church’s moral teaching to the development, distribution, and reception of vaccines. The letter outlines the following principles:

  • Any vaccine must be developed in a morally acceptable manner;
  • Catholics are obliged to advocate for vaccine development to be done in a morally acceptable manner throughout every stage;
  • The vaccines developed by Moderna and Pfizer to combat COVID-19 may be taken without moral reservations;
  • Catholics are obliged to advocate for the just distribution of a vaccine so that those most vulnerable may have access.

Pandemic Mass Reminder
The Archbishop of Cincinnati has dispensed the faithful from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass during the Covid-19 Pandemic.  Please do not come if you feel sick. Those who are vulnerable may consider coming to a less crowded weekday Mass.
